Like many fans of the Denver Broncos, I was saddened last week to see Von Miller traded. Broncos fans will long remember Super Bowl 50 as the game Miller won for the team almost single-handedly. Stifling NFL MVP Cam Newton for most of the game and forcing two fumbles that led to two Denver touchdowns in a 14-point victory, Miller was amazing.
But despite his performance, Miller didn’t do it all alone. Kicker Brandon McManus contributed 10 points, running back C.J. Anderson scored a touchdown, and Peyton Manning connected with Bennie Fowler for a two-point conversion. On defense Bronco Chris Harris matched Miller’s five tackes, and T.J Ward and Danny Trevathan each had four. This week, a Miller-less Broncos team played their best football of the season and handily beat a Dallas squad riding a six-game winning streak.
My point? Teamwork is critical. Everyone must execute their role or the job won’t get done. It’s true in football, and it’s just as true in business.
Today, I could not be more proud to announce that teamwork has resulted in MAPRagency being named as one of seven companies globally to receive the Public Relations Agency of the Year honor in the 2021 Public Relations and Marketing Excellence Awards from Business Intelligence Group. And just like the Broncos wins in Super Bowl 50 and last week in Dallas — this was 100% a team effort. As our VP of Public Relations Melissa Christensen said, “At MAPR, we like to say, ‘we do the hard stuff,’ and this award underscores the diligent efforts of our entire team this year.”
In addition to this award, our teamwork has also paid off in other ways. In spite of the ongoing global pandemic and the resulting market uncertainty, we’ve doubled our billings in the last year. As a result, we’ve added a number of new team members and realigned our leadership team. MAPR veteran Melissa Christensen was promoted to vice president, Public Relations; long-time creative director Jennifer Stevens was named vice president, Digital and Creative Services; and senior account executive Amy Leger was promoted to COO and client services officer. This realigned, client-focused leadership structure allows MAPR to serve organizations that need projects in a single practice area or seamlessly provide complete, integrated programs combining all the services we offer.
I couldn’t be more proud of our MAPRagency team, the work we do and the clients we are privileged to serve.
Now, if the Broncos could just get back to the Super Bowl!
