The Brief

In early 2017, Surna Inc., a publicly traded technology company that engineers equipment for controlled environment agriculture (CEA) with special expertise in cannabis cultivation, approached MAPR to develop a holistic public relations strategy that would help the company evolve alongside the burgeoning cannabis industry in the U.S. and Canada.

The Work

As Surna is on the equipment side of an early-stage industry, such as cannabis, our strategy focused on helping the company shape best practices for the industry and positioning Surna as experts in CEA and cannabis cultivation as well as resources for industry analysts and media members. Through a series of relevant press releases as well as proactive and reactive pitching efforts, Surna secured several earned media articles and received good coverage in our first month of engagement.

The Results

A number of industry, national and local publications, including Insider Financial, BizWest, Daily Camera, Colorado Daily, Seeking Alpha and New Cannabis Ventures, have covered the company. With MAPR’s help, Surna is quickly gaining public traction to tell its story as a leader for indoor grow equipment and solutions in the cannabis industry and beyond.
