Founded in 1991 as one of the nation’s first technology public relations firms, MAPRagency has led the evolution of public relations and creative services through the Digital Age. Today, we are the public voice for clients ranging from the Fortune 500 to venture-backed startups.
We’re also the largest PR firm headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, with offices in Denver and Fort Collins — and we’re still growing. As a result, we are looking for a gifted professional to join us.
Our Account Executives are responsible for managing multiple clients to meet their public relations goals. The position requires experience in leading successful public relations campaigns, with an interest in B2B, professional services and tech PR. To fit in here, you must have a vision for the client’s story and the ability to strategize in order to achieve the client’s goals across multiple communications verticals within MAPR, including video, social media, media relations, content development, creative and digital marketing.
Organization, attention to detail, strategic thinking, leadership and acute client relations skills are essential in this role. At MAPR, collaboration and teamwork are highly regarded and encouraged, since this position frequently organizes brainstorming meetings and then works closely with team members to divide tasks and meet deadlines.
We’re looking for someone to join our team and provide world-class client service and results. You’ll understand public relations from five or more years of related industry experience, and we also need you to have a healthy dose of “geek” to lean on. If you’re looking for an agency that works with travel, fashion, fine wines or skincare — well, they’re out there, but we’re not one of them.
We like to say that we do the hard stuff — technology, professional services, business-to-business and all things connected. Think IoT and AI are pretty cool? So do we. If you thrive on variety and want to make your own path then we might be what you’re looking for.
Some of the cool stuff you’ll do:
- Serve as the direct contact to the client, providing timely recommendations and responses.
- Manage the tactical work on the account with all MAPR staff and coach Account Coordinators and Sr. Account Coordinators.
- Manage the budget for client accounts and assign work to your team accordingly.
- Run weekly or bi-monthly client meetings and provide agendas and recaps to the entire team and client.
- Develop monthly activity reports with metrics (as necessary) to share progress with clients.
- Identify media opportunities and develop strategic public relations plans for multiple clients.
- Manage all media outreach for clients, including approving pitches and developing ideas for outreach.
- Attend award ceremonies and networking events on behalf of clients.
- There’s more. There’s always more.
This might be the right job for you if you have:
- 5+ years of B2B PR experience, ideally in an agency environment working on tech, B2B or related client accounts.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including problem-solving skills to address any inconsistencies or inefficiencies within your team.
- A deep understanding of strategic communications and media relations with a proven track record of success and a proficient ability to manage multiple clients across multiple industries concurrently.
- Extensive experience developing PR plans and managing timelines and budgets to help clients meet goals.
- Experience working with C-level executives and the ability to align your work style with their individual preferences.
- Excellent communication and active listening skills and exceptional time management of both your own schedule and your team’s.
- Impeccable grammar, outstanding writing skills and expert knowledge of the AP Style Manual (bonus points if you can stump our CEO on AP Style trivia. Betcha can’t).
- An unflappable work ethic and don’t mind an occasional “adult word” dropped around the office (and you can drop them yourself when appropriate).
- The understanding that we’re not a huge company with a bevy of administrative assistants and are willing to do what needs to be done when it needs to be done, whether that’s drafting a brilliant PR strategy for a client or typing notes during a new business meeting.
And here’s what you’ll enjoy:
- Competitive salary and flexibility to keep you balanced — all full-time MAPRagency employees enjoy unlimited flextime!
- Quarterly Mandatory Fun events (when COVID-19 allows it).
- A great benefits package with health insurance, dental, vision, a 401K plan and more!
- A fun, casual, hard-working team to spend your days with (note: college football is very important around here, so tell us who your favorite team is and why it’s the Akron Zips. Kidding about the Zips, but it is OK if you like them).
